The tune actually is “China Boy”

  2. Peter Butler says:

    Thank you Louis!

  3. Jim McIntosh says:

I remember playing this tune at Lubeck Jazz Club with Max Collie. It was a clarinet ‘battle’ between Jack Gilbert and the club owner Jurgen. Fast? They battled on for about 50 choruses and then, guess what? effing banjo solo!!!! Oh how I miss that!!!!

Back in 2011, I played a small part in helping launch Ramsgate Seaside Shuffle and you, Jim, were on stage with Max Collie at The Granville Theatre. I can’t find the specific report right now, but this post (based on one of your Just Jazz Editorials) includes one of my photos of you with Max: https://www.jazzandjazz.com/2015/04/frumpy-thats-how-just-jazz-was-recently-referred-to/
