What a surprise that was when Joan’s great big jazz band struck up the music at Fest Jazz. Those young musicians were absolutely brilliant and my goodness what enthusiasm. It was really infectious. Although Joan’s English wasn’t great, he put across to you and me how his enthusiasm inspired those kids to the heights they were achieving. I play the DVD and CD which he kindly gave us, often, and still enjoy them so much. 19 I believe is the limiting age the kids can stay in the band, and it is good to see Andrea Motis and Eva Fernandes have progressed on to successful solo careers. My wife and I were fortunate to get an invitation to go up side stage and see the organisation that went into the circulation of these young musicians so that everyone in a large team got playing time. Amazing ! I hope to get another chance to see Joan’s band in the near future. Norm888
