Greg Lambousy, Director of The New Orleans Jazz Museum, has asked me to feature on Jazz&Jazz the Museum’s forthcoming inaugural Improvisations Gala Fundraiser. I’m only too pleased to do so, Greg, as I remember so well the escorted tour of the museum my wife and I were given back in 2010.
The Fundraiser is scheduled for 7-10pm on Saturday, 8th December, at
400 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans.
The event kicks off with an exclusive Patron Party (a VIP ticket option) at 7 p.m. which will include a performance from CBS “Late Show” bandleader Jon Batiste, meals prepared by
Ruth’s Chris Steak House, cocktails from Sazerac Company, and the opportunity to have
a portrait taken by renowned music photographer Curtis Knapp.
The main party begins at 8 p.m. and will include cuisine from several of New Orleans’ best restaurants, a silent auction, live painting by Emilie Rhys, and music performed by acclaimed
local musicians including Evan Christopher (a Facebook Friend), Wendell Brunious,
The Stanton Moore Trio and The Soul Rebels.
The lighting artists of LUNA Fête will also be featured throughout the museum’s campus and galleries for the entirety of the event.
All proceeds from the gala will benefit the Jazz Museum’s musical and educational programming.
