Festival Organiser Trevor Stent messaged me: “For me the Shake’Em Up Band is the best band in the world at the moment (big statement but I believe it)”. So I counted it a massive privilege to film much of Shake’Em Up’s main marquee concert at Fest Jazz 2018.
Band Leader Marla Dixon is a member of my Facebook Jazzers Group and I was privileged to speak to her before the show and tell her I would be filming for Jazz&Jazz YouTubes. So I’ll get straight to it:
I filmed Shake’Em Up for several other YouTubes which will follow so please come back soon to view them!

Agreed ! Agreed ! Viva ‘Shake ’em Up’. And what an amazing festival of great music – ‘Frog & Henry’, ‘Ben Waters’, ‘Mama Shakers’ (praised highly by ‘Shake ’em Up’) et al. ‘Rosenberg Trio’ did a one only performance in their gypsy swing style to a packed audience. The many other bands, on a very full programme, should also be applauded. Tad Newton, Chris Hayward and Malo Mazurie were well received, as were young French bands, eg Louisett, not previously known to many of us from UK. Even when it rained Sunday the enthusiasm was not dampened. Molly Reeves ( Shake ’em Up ) announced Fest Jazz was the best festival they’ve played, and I’m inclined to agree. Norm888
Fully agree, Norm! Hard pressed now producing Jazz&Jazz YouTubes of the bands and musicians. Some specials too, so much so that Ginny and I spent so much more time filming at some sessions we missed out on just a few – but rationed to ensure those were bands who had appeared in previous years! Trevor and his team sure pack them in – worth bands and fans!
