They really have to be seen live, what a lively bunch of young musicians, and their trumpet playing vocalist is a real delight. You can see it in her eyes, and body language, that she is loving everything they are performing. I hope you managed to video ‘St. James Infirmary Blues’, the bass player put his all into his version of it. Good seeing you and Ginny down at Fest Jazz, it was an amazing programme this year and It will be difficult to top it in 2019. But, knowing Trevor and his young team, they will be working hard on it. Thanks for the accolades Norman! Cheered me up as I’m having immense trouble right now with computers. I have a new laptop just delivered – top rate for all I do but has burnt a hole in my pocket – but we are in the midst of setting it up. Within a couple of days I hope as I have so many more Fest Jazz YouTubes to feature. Some very special ones at that!

  3. Paul Goddard says:

So energetic a band that it is exhausting just to watch – ‘though maybe ‘exhilarating’ is more appropriate. Like Norm888 I hope you have a video of their excellent ‘St James Infirmary Blues’, although my favourite version may well remain that of Hugh Laurie and the Copper-bottom Band (yes – THAT Hugh Laurie).
Incidentally, what about the girls sound-check that drew much applause?

  4. Peter Butler says:

Hi Paul, great to see you at Fest Jazz. As you know Ginny and I charged around from venue to venue filming the bands for Jazz&Jazz YouTubes from best positions due to our official Fest Jazz Media Pass. Great to be part of the Fest Jazz team. But unfortunately my trusty laptop has expired and I am only just coming to grips with a new, even better but horribly expensive one. So production of my many Fest Jazz YouTubes temporarily stalled. But I’m getting back into top gear now so watch this space. I filmed so many I’m not sure about SJIB!

  5. Norm888 says:

Pleased Paul enjoyed the SJIB. I also liked the Hugh Laurie one, but I still like the one Lucien Barbarin did guesting with the Dave Donohoe Band and it’s on one of DD’s CD’s. Cab Calloway’s versionfrom way back is good as well !! Norm888. Get looking for the Mama Shakers’ one soon Peter.
