Jazz&Jazz is pleased to feature Brian O’Connor’s captivating
“Images of Jazz”

Hi Jazz Fans

After 45 years of jazz and blues photography, I’m finally publishing a book showing a selection of the photos taken during that time.  I was hoping to make it 50 years, but have decided to err on the side of caution whilst I can still press a shutter button.

It was hoped that the book would be ready early enough to be in time for reviews to be carried out before Christmas.  This is now becoming a close run thing.  It is currently at the printer but when you read this it may be available for orders.

So in the meantime I have decided to go ahead some advanced publicity and I am grateful to Jazz&Jazz for this post featuring the book plus the images below. Should you be interested in ordering the book could you please email me at: [email protected]

Many thanks,

Brian O’Connor

New York Guitarist Gilad Hekselman Booked for Jazz At The Park, Bedford, Thursday, 10th November

Tom Syson, Managing Director of Conscia Jazz (conscia.org), is pleased to announce a special one-off Bedford ‘Jazz at the Park’ event for Thursday,
10th November, with the internationally renowned New York based guitarist GILAD HEKSELMAN

Gilad will be performing solo guitar at The Pavilion in Bedford Park, following on from the successful 2016 ‘Jazz at the Park’ series. As always there will be a Q&A session with the artist in the second set. Check out his very impressive bio below for more information about him.

“Gilad Hekselman has been developing a reputation as one of the most promising guitarists in New York since his arrival in 2004. After only a few years this native Israeli has shared the stage with some of the greatest artists in the New York City jazz scene including Chris Potter, Mark Turner, John Scofield, Anat Cohen, Ari Hoenig, Esperanza Spalding, Sam Yahel, Jeff Ballard, Gretchen Parlato, Avishai Cohen, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Tigran Hamasyan, Aaron Parks and Greg Hutchinson.

“Gilad has played all the major jazz clubs in New York City including the Blue Note, The Jazz Standard, Dizzy’s Club and Smalls. He is constantly touring world-wide and has played most noteworthy jazz festivals including Montreux (Sui), North Sea (Ned), Montreal (Can) & San Francisco (USA).

“Gilad Hekselman has a vision of modern jazz that’s harmonically fluent but not averse to simple melody or gentle, approachable effect. His fine working trio, with Joe Martin on bass and Marcus Gilmore on drums, draws from a rewarding new album, ‘Homes’.”

The event starts at 8pm on Thursday, 10th of November, with doors opening from 7.40pm. Tickets cost £25.95 including a grazing board which will be served in the interval. There is a fully licensed bar serving wine and beer. Due to the intimate nature of the venue, there is a maximum of 30 tickets available, we recommend you book your tickets from conscia.org as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing you there!!

Many thanks
