This is an amazingly active tour – 23 gigs in 23 days ! – if I have counted right ! Interesting that Seren ‘Doc’ is reverting to his old love of 40 years – his drum kit. I’ve not ever seen Seren on drums, so that is a pleasure I look forward to at one of his Northern England sessions. They are a swinging outfit, and, no doubt, you will be catching them again Peter and a doing some videoing ! Jesper has played ‘Burgundy Street’ live on request for me in the recent past, and he is right up there with Lewis’s original, and those great recordings by Sammy Rimmington and Dr Michael White. Many ‘Sold Out’ notices should be expected at a lot of Jazz Clubs in October ! Norm888
Yes, Norman, I’ll be at their Olney Jazz Club gig and hopefully filming them again. Totally agree about Jesper. A couple of years ago when he guested with Brian Turnock’s New Orleans Z’hulus at The Blue Posts in Soho, London, I wanted to record him playing Burgundy Street Blues there, but the place was so packed with fans I found myself so close alongside him that it was impossible to film – but I could have played his clarinet for him!!! You’ll have seen included on this post my YouTube of him playing it at Olney last year though.
Disappointed that Peter Goetz the trombone player is not there this time!
