An outstanding musician and a remarkable man, who, over 50 years ago, went from England to New Orleans because of his love of jazz and his desire to learn how to play it for real. He actually stayed there and is now one of the Crescent City’s most respected musicians, where his own NEW ORLEANS SERENADERS are regular fixtures at all the New Orleans festivals, and at two of the city’s most celebrated jazz haunts, the Palm Court Cafe and Preservation Hall.

TOMMY SANCTON Clarinet

A native of New Orleans and a former student of the great George Lewis. Tommy has toured widely in Europe and the USA and has played at major international jazz festivals, including numerous appearances at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Along with Clive he is often seen leading his own group at Preservation Hall.


Clive Wilson has assembled a great line up of veteran British jazz musicians to complete this touring version of the New Orleans Serenaders. They are:

MIKE POINTON Trombone

No one plays the New Orleans trombone role better than Mike Pointon who has featured with many US legends including George Lewis, Kid Thomas, Alton Purnell, Mezz Mezzrow and Wild Bill Davison.

JONATHAN VINTEN Piano

Jon played with George Melly and John Chilton’s Feetwarmers for over 10 years. He has performed during Christmas seasons at Ronnie Scott’s annually and played with many visiting American jazz greats including
Wild Bill Davison, Kenny Davern, Warren Vache, Al Casey
and Benny Waters.

Vic spent 18 years with the Kenny Ball Band and 29 years with Chris Barber.  He still does short tours with Chris Barber and Clive Wilson.

NORMAN EMBERSON Drums

Ten years with the Chris Barber Band, travelling the world and recording with many of the greats of this music genre including
Doctor John and Sammy Rimington. Plays at major international jazz festivals including numerous appearances at the New Orleans Jazz and
Heritage Festival.
