Movie Time at The Peartree Featuring New Orleans Heat

L to R: Mike Taylor, Gwyn Lewis and John Scantelbury

So much to report and catch up with on Jazz&Jazz but sorry fellow jazzers, I got side tracked.

In September, Sony introduced their magical “smartphone lens camera”, the Cybershot DSC-QX100 – designed to “improve the photographic capabilities” of selected mobile phones, including my iPhone 5. It can be attached to the iPhone or mounted separately on a mini tripod but operated by WiFi connection to the iPhone using Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile App. It can perform equally successfully using my iPad and what’s more, if need be, it can be used with utmost discretion.

With its Carl Zeiss zoom lens it takes top quality photos and crystal sharp hi res movies.

New Orleans Heat Captured on Cybershot  at The Peartree
I had always intended “branching out into the movies” to reinforce the impact of Jazz&Jazz and Jazzers but hadn’t fancied encumbering myself at gigs with necessary kit. But the Cybershot lens camera persuaded me to get into “Lights, Camera Action” post haste.

So having ironed out a few software bugs and got to grips with the Cybershot, for my first perhaps somewhat amateurish release, click here: YouTube movie of New Orleans Heat, for one the UKs most dynamic bands playing at the Peartree Jazz Club, Welwyn Garden City, on Monday, 21st October.

Now I will resume catching up on normal business, so watch out for my usual report on the evening along with photos. And for further movies of gigs in due course!
