JazzandJazz.com is dedicated to promoting jazz for Jazz Bands, Jazz Musicians and Jazz Fans. We aim to raise the profile of jazz through shared news and views about the jazz scene.
JazzandJazz.com features the Jazz Art of portrait painter and poet, Peter Mark Butler. As a jazz fan, his goal is to use his acrylic portraits and jazz photographs to help keep jazz "live and alive".
Peter pens poems with each of his jazz portraits and produces them as fine art Giclée prints. He accepts commissions and personally creates and signs each fine art print.
Commissions and sales of his jazz portraits, fine art prints and photos help cover the costs of JazzandJazz and as they increase so will the site's reach and scope.
So if you wish to commission a portrait, order a print or simply "have your say" on any aspect of JazzandJazz.com, go to COMMISSIONS and email peter@jazzandjazz.com. This will help us develop all important links and direct contacts with bands and fans.
Facilities for purchasing online via PayPal will be introduced in due course.
JazzandJazz.com wants to hear from fans as well as bands and musicians.
We are assembling a collection of Peter's jazz photos and displaying them throughout the site.
But which musician should he paint next? Most jazz fans have their favourites. So let us know your favourites. You could even commission Peter to paint portraits of them.
We value fans' opinions not only to prioritise portraits but also to help us ensure JazzandJazz.com is a truly fan friendly site.
Under COMMISSIONS you will find a link to email Peter with your requests and opinions.
“Dear Peter, You have embarked on a lonely road. There have been few people painting New Orleans musicians over the years. There was one guy named Frank Caunce … in the 1965 - 72 period who was very good but not as organised as you. So keep doing what you are doing.”
Barry Martyn, New Orleans
“Very pleased to be associated with Jazz & Jazz. It promises to be be an influential contribution not just to the UK but to any one anywhere capable of accessing it. My Old Green River Band is delighted to have the opportunity to register its gigs and geographical whereabouts and to see the results this must have for all those associated.”
Martin Bennett, The Old Green River Band
“Fantastic Peter, you've got a talent for capturing people! Perhaps I need to have a shave!!!
Emile Martyn, The Fallen Heroes.

Hi Peter,
Your promotion and output of the jazz paintings and posters blows me away! Here I am a few months away and in my return you suddenly have this website that brings the paintings of musicians alive and vibrant. To top it off your posters are so attractive that they are bound to bring greater audiences to jazz fans and newcomers to check it all out. What a great idea to put up this website.
Great going – I can tell you will be ultra busy with all the personal paintings and enjoying the concerts – if you have time to attend them. I absolutely love the work you are doing! Jill Nielsen
Thanks a million for such high praise, Jill. More like that please, folks!
Peter
