How can a band with the motto ‘From Basin Street to Basie and Beyond’ present themselves to a strictly traditional jazz club?
Not so easy while maintaining your commitment to presenting an eclectic mix of Jazz, is it, Tad?
But you’ve cracked it, by offering an alternative motto, ‘Basin Street to Harlem’, and presenting an eclectic mix of jazz emanating from before the second world war, with the only post war references being to British Jazz Men of the ‘Trad’ boom of our youth (well, mine, anyway).
And a club noted for not accepting music that is not ‘Trad’ love you! A few quotes: “The best band we have had this year”, “fantastic”, “excellent” – I heard them all! Well done Tad, well done all of you.
