“Shades of Miles”at Olney Jazz Club 8.00pm Tuesday 3rd March …

A Touch of Magic with Paul Higgs
and the Chris Ingham Trio on the night plus a magical Olney Flash Back!

Ace trumpeter Paul Higgs plays with a sublime tone  and breathtaking technique. He has performed with Johnny Dankworth, Lulu, Tony Hatch, John Williams, Peggy Lee and Nancy Wilson. He has also performed in major concert venues around the world, and regularly receives standing ovations.

Paul is renowned for his magical sound and exceptional skill. His great sensitivity, high energy and his own skill as a composer make him a superb proponent of Miles Davis’ music. Miles Davis, the most revered jazz trumpeter of all time, was at the forefront of several major innovations in jazz from the mid ’40s to the early ’90s – bebop, cool, hard bop, modal, jazz funk and jazz fusion. Paul plays well known favourites from these styles as well as some less familiar gems. Performing with Paul tonight is the Chris Ingham Trio

“I’ve never been sure if I’m a bigger fan of Paul’s trumpet playing or his marvellous composing talents as they’re both monumental!”
Digby Fairweather: BBC presenter

“Paul is a classy emotive musician who can hold an audience in the palm of his hand whatever style he happens to be playing in. His trumpet playing is hauntingly beautiful.”
Val O’Doherty, proprietor of Mill Hill Jazz Club

The whole group was superb, but Paul was exceptional, sound just likes Miles on the Harmon muted numbers. A truly memorable evening.
