When Godfrey King, UK Director of The Anglo-Japanese Society of Wessex, contacted me on Facebook about the Society’s involvement in jazz,
I simply had to explore further …

I was irresistably entranced by this YouTube:

No, not jazz, but to discover more, here is the post Godfrey featured
on my Facebook Jazzers Group:… “Also visit – not entirely dedicated to jazz, although more than just Japanese Jazz when featured. “Class Jazz” and “CJ Ten Years On” marks
10 years since 2007 when a remarkable school jazz concert took place in Japan, since when we have remained associated with the musicians who took part.”
It’s amazing where Jazz leads to!

Great to see a bunch of kids enjoying playing this music. They must have the Japanese equivalent of Joan Chamorro urging and directing them. Their faces are a delight – you can see they are having fun.

Norman, thanks for posting this. Obviously referring to the “Class Jazz The Concert” YouTube foot of the feature. I’ll be getting back to you just as soon as possible on the other young bands we discussed. Plus I’m still striving for time to feature my planned features on Joan’s youngsters and especially my thoughts on younger bands today and the divergence between the old faithfuls.
