Great to see jazz is still being played in my home town, I think Roger, Antony (my brothers) and I covered most pubs in and around Bedford way back from about 1958 onwards with several bands. There was a good weekly club on Castle Road Saturday nights that was behind a pub were we saw the likes of Kieth Smith, Barry Martyn, Ken Coyler, Dan Pawson and Bill Dickens who we played with often and many more. The place rocked. We had a trio called The P.R.A. Trio (Paul drums, Roger clarinet and Antony, Banjo – we also formed a band called the Mississippi Stompers that played once at Cambridge Jazz Festival. We had Pete Dyer on Trombone. Antony went on trumpet and Lawrence Marshall played the Banjo. Oh happy days they were. Even did the clubs in Europe in a old ford van. See my website for up to date news. I wonder if I can get a return gig in Bedford with the Mississippi Dreamboats?
