Fans out in force for Annie Hawkins’ jazzmen.

Annie Hawkins and her Jazzmen arrived in Ramsgate on Saturday evening, 11th July, at the height of the weekend’s heatwave. Seaside Shuffle Jazz Fans packed The Small Boat Owners Club to the gunnels.

So much so that in introducing Annie and the band, Mike Pointon paid Ramsgate Seaside Shuffle fans the huge compliment of comparing them and the club with his favourite New Orleans jazz hot spots, adding “… in fact it’s hotter here than in New Orleans – and over at the bar there are even slices of refreshing water melon!”

Band

L to R: Mike Pointon (trombone), Annie (bass), Ken Sims (trumpet), Nick Ward (drums), John Law (clarinet), Richard Smith (guitar)

To share the atmosphere and revel in the occasion, here are four YouTubes which I captured during the evening with Annie and the Band in top gear! The fans too for that matter, as I jockeyed for positions to get the best views of the band.
