Mike Owen’s Scarlette’s Serenaders with Sarah Spencer at Bedford Golf Club

Two contrasting numbers enthusiastically applauded by jazz fans at Bedford Golf Club on a glorious May evening, with Mike Owen (trombone), Sarah Spencer (Saxophone, recently returned from the USA) , Brian Mellor (Banjo), Baby Jools (Drums)
and Brian Lawrence (bass).

“Eh La Bas” (Hey Over There!)
Sarah and Mike rip into this traditional New Orleans song. Originally sung with Creole lyrics but later given French lyrics and the French title.

“Let Me Call You Sweetheart!”
In complete contrast and a little more mellow – Sarah and Mike in duet, silhouetted against a backdrop of bright evening sunlight. Leo Friedman and Beth Slater Whitson’s popular song
dating back to 1910.

Thanks go to Tad Newton for helping keep great jazz live and alive in Bedfordshire.
