I wish to thank Tad Newton, not only for affording Jazz&Jazz the opportunity to film Melow Baku with Rachel Johnson’s Youngbloods and Julian Marc Stringle as guest star with Tad’s own JazzFriends, but also for promoting great bands and full on jazz at his three venues.
It is my good fortune that each venue is within striking distance of my Art & Media Centre, enabling me to feature visiting bands and musicians from the length and breadth of the country as well as overseas stars. Some say my coverage is becoming too regional. My main aim is to promote jazz bands and musicians and if logistics and finances dictate that in the main this has to be closer to my home base so be it. But delve more deeply into Jazz&Jazz and you will find I stretch my coverage as far and wide as possible, taking in Jazz Clubs, Jazz Concerts and Jazz Festivals
throughout the UK and overseas.

Brian Turnock Announces The New Orleans Z’hulus 2015 UK Tour Dates
https://www.jazzandjazz.com/?p=11452
In keeping with our aim to introduce emerging, younger
generation bands, Jazz&Jazz is delighted to feature
The 1920s/40s American Swing Era introduced a new breed of jazz musicians including Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Buster Bailey, Benny Goodman and Count Basie.
Since 2011 “The Electric Swing Circus” (ESC) has been reviving Swing, not in America but throughout the UK. ESC – A 6-piece fusion of “saucy 20′s swing” – bring their own unique style to Swing and an “explosive sound that reverberates back through time”.
2014 was a big year of festivals and international touring for ESC, and they have a
new album in the pipeline this year.
Their bookings for 2015 are rapidly proliferating, including Trevor Stent’s upbeat Fest Jazz at Châteauneuf-du-Faou, Brittany, 24th – 26th July. It was Trevor who first drew my attention to
Electric Swing Circus.
But much sooner than Fest Jazz is their star slot this coming Friday, 13th March, in London at the Coronet Theatre’s “Valentine’s Masked Ball”.

Popular belief is that Jazz has had its day. Not so! There are plenty of great bands on the jazz circuits - playing at Concerts, Clubs, Festivals. People say the musicians and fans are past their sell by dates and don’t attract younger audiences. Again, not so! There is a Jazz Revival! Numerous younger bands with growing numbers of enthusiastic young fans are making their mark.
“Jazz & Jazz” is an invaluable platform for news about young bands and musicians. It’s a great way for organisers like me to know what is going on! The enthusiasm of Peter Butler is inspirational and infectious and has certainly done much to boost the reputation of Fest Jazz beyond the boundaries of Brittany. Long may the site continue and flourish!”
Trevor Stent, Good Time Jazz
“Dear Peter, You have embarked on a lonely road. There have been few people painting New Orleans musicians over the years. There was one guy named Frank Caunce … in the 1965 - 72 period who was very good but not as organised as you. So keep doing what you are doing.”
Barry Martyn, New Orleans
“Very pleased to be associated with Jazz & Jazz. It promises to be be an influential contribution not just to the UK but to any one anywhere capable of accessing it. My Old Green River Band is delighted to have the opportunity to register its gigs and geographical whereabouts and to see the results this must have for all those associated.”
Martin Bennett, The Old Green River Band
“Fantastic Peter, you've got a talent for capturing people! Perhaps I need to have a shave!!!
Emile Martyn, The Fallen Heroes.
